Philosophy
Life is full of moments and injuries that transform us. We are constantly in the process of reconstructing, re-creating, healing and becoming.
Marc's canvases capture this process. His roughly painted canvases mark the birth of his creations. Like a newborn, they are clean and pure. Life's sorrows and injuries are the randomly placed bumps that he overlaps with thousands of pieces of string. As they interweave, they create tapestries of healing and becoming.

Biography
The Painting Technique of Marc Bertin
A unique art practice that plays with surface and texture as they transmute life's experiences.
I used to be a chef but now I feed the soul. My paintings are a portal between the conscious and the unconscious, between our experiences and our memories. My paintings use me to exist, they require my aid to be born. It's like I'm a channel. I know that I have touched the canvas and worked upon it, but none of my choices are deliberate or calculated. I create a void so that something unknown can appear. I simply pick up what comes to hand and go to work. I am driven by energy, vibration and happenstance. It's total abstraction. There is a vital connection between my art and myself, an ongoing dialogue, and sometimes they call for me because they feel that they are not finished, that they could be more, and it is my job to help them achieve their potential.
